Kelly Kennedy, PhD is one of the nation’s leading experts in fitness training for police. While working for the largest Police Department in the Southeast United States, she has physically trained and tested over 3,500 police recruits and officers since 1999. During this time she has lectured on physical fitness to classes such as Basic Law Enforcement for Police, Corrections and specialized units such as the Special Response Team, Rapid Deployment Force, and Defensive Tactics Instructor. Additionally, she helped to work on the job task analysis of several specialized units like Marine Patrol and Aviation. She works as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on court cases and she lead the design of a large obstacle course that was constructed for law enforcement training. She was also part of a committee to create a pretest physical fitness screening for the members of the Rapid Deployment Force. She has also lectured internationally for various athletes and police officers. In addition, she has assisted in training camps as an assistant coach at the East Coast Alliance (ECA) Convention, and National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). Kelly has also hosted workshops for the AVON 3-Day Walk, Team Footworks, was interviewed on the Performance Nutrition Radio Show, and was a featured professional in the SoBeReal section of SoBeFit Magazine. After graduating with a Masters Degree in Health Education with a specialization in Exercise Physiology, she worked as an adjunct instructor at Florida International University for five years. Kelly is certified with the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) as a Certified Exercise Physiologist, a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist*D with the National Strength and Conditioning Association, Certified with the International Society of Sports Nutrition, and for four years, had worked as an examiner for ACSM. She is a past certified Level 1 Sport Performance Coach from USAW, Former Crossfit Level 1, Certified Florida Department of Law Enforcement Defensive Tactics Instructor, member of the International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association, and earned a PhD in Global Leadership from Lynn University.
Sergeant Troy Lee
Sergeant Troy Lee is employed by a large police department in Southeast Florida since 1994. In 1997 he was assigned as an operator to the Special Response Team and has been a cadre for the S.R.T. schools since 1999. Some of the topics he has taught include, building searches, mechanical breaching, tactical firearms training, dignitary protection, defensive tactics, and vehicle takedowns.He holds numerous certifications, including Police Instructor, Defensive Tactics Instructor, Firearms Instructor, Tactical Semiautomatic Shotgun Instructor, Benelli Shotgun Armorer, H&K Submachine Gun Operator, and he is also a CPR instructor under the American Heart Association. He attended Fire College and graduated with a firefighter and EMT certification. Sergeant Lee is presently a certified Brown Belt under the Gracie Jiu Jitsu system and has aided, along with his instructor, in the training of the local law enforcement and military agencies. In 2008, he taught a law enforcement defensive tactics course for the Florida SWAT Association, under the Valente Gracie Jiu Jitsu system. Sergeant Lee is a current member of the Police Benevolent Association and the International Association of Firefighters.
